Many UU backstage private messages asked us to find our seniors to write an article about their experience studying at the University of Southampton! Let's follow the ginger sister into the University of Southampton! Thanks to her for taking time out of her busy schedule to complete the following Q&A
Q: Can you briefly introduce yourself?
A: My name is ginger , I am the master of 2021fall , studying global advertising and branding at Winchester School of Art in Southampton.
Q: Why did you choose the University of Southampton?
A: In fact, the University of Southampton was not my dream school at that time. Because my undergraduate degree was in media, I was focused on going to the University of Amsterdam, which is the world’s number one media major. I waited for three months for the rejection letter😭 but at that time There were very few schools to choose from. I took a look and found that Nan'an is in a good location, prices are not as high as in London, and the university's ranking is also very high, so I chose to come to Nan'an. As for why I chose this major, it was because Advertising has a relatively broad scope of employment, and Tiger Balm is a professional! ! !
Q: Are the majors at Winchester School of Art in Southampton really good? Very close?
A: The University of Southampton is a university that is easy on entry and strict on exit. Basically, all those who meet the requirements will be admitted, but whether you can graduate successfully depends on your own ability ... As far as our college is concerned, the water level is very high. It's hard to say if it's not water, it depends on how you understand it. There are many courses and majors with many dues . For example, as far as I know, fashion marketing has many dues and is very busy. There are also majors with difficult course content and difficult essays . For example, in our major, although there are really few classes and not many dues , the course content is really not easy. It is a combination of media and marketing . S1 also has a strategic marketing program. The class requires business training, and the content taught by the teacher is also very limited. Basically, I rely on myself to study. If I need something, I can just read the literature. Moreover, the essay thing is really too subjective. The teacher’s score calculation was really serious and suffocating! ! But, Winchester is basically Chinese, and the environment where you can practice speaking is really limited. You need to participate in more activities, such as Winchester Fashion Week, where you can meet many foreigners and improve your speaking skills. ~
Q: Winchester seems quite far from the center of Nan'an. How do you usually go to class?
A: There are two types of accommodation. One is to live in Winchester, which is convenient for going to school. However, this place is really too boring, because most of the activities are in Nan'an, and there are restaurants, bars and other activities. There are indeed very few places (but there are quite a few Michelin restaurants hahahaha). The other is to live in Nan'an, embrace the lively crowds and rich life, and go to and from school every day by train , bus or school bus. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Winchester by train from the city center and 1 hour by bus . If there are no morning classes, it is still possible. Okay, if there are morning classes, emmmmm , I can tolerate it!
